Digesto

  1. Resend digest from digest list

Enable the ability to kick off a fresh send right from the digest list. Just like the “test” feature, but for real-deal live resends.

  2. Digest failed send re-attempts

New configuration option which will attempt to send a digest again if a processing error occurs (e.g. feed error/timeout). Consider a 3 strikes you’re out process where after three unsuccessful attempts over the course of an hour, or a half day, or full day, the digest times out.

  4. Manually set next run date.

Allow user to define the date of the first run. For example, I can set a Digesto to run weekly, but schedule the first run in only 3 weeks.

This will also help regulate updates to your Digest. i.e. if a Digesto is set bi-weekly and I edit (deactive-reactivate) this will reset the bi-weekly cycle to next week and could cause the email to go out on 2 consecutive weeks. Setting a proper first run date would allow to realign with "normal" cycle after a change.

  5. Increase Security with SSO / SAML / 2 Factor Authentication

New client request: We believe that SAML is now an industry standard and as a company you are likely to be asked for this frequently by customers over a certain size. Minimally 2 Factor Authentication.

  6. Add Youtube Channel as a Source Feed

Youtube provides an RSS output. Not quite compatible with industry standards, but with a few tweaks, Digesto would have the ability to distribute newly published videos into an email as Newsletter/Digest just like it does for your blog. Is there interest for this feature ? Please cast your vote!

  7. Allow multiple sources/feeds to be used in one email

Here is an interesting request from a new user. I've heard that one a few times now so I just wanted to give everyone some visibility on it. Please vote if you need this too!

I have a newsletter that I would like to be able to put multiple feeds into one email.

    For example, in the setup, I create a token, {{my.DigestoEmailContent}}

But what if I want to create {{my.DigestoEmailContentTWO}} and use it to add a second feed in a completely different part of the newsletter.

Definitely a nice addition – we’re evaluating various solutions and related efforts. Although not optimal because it duplicates the content across multiple lead objects; alternative method can be used where lead level field can store the value of 2 separate Digests/programs/tokens, and email uses the new lead.content tokens to populate the email- contact me if you need more details on this approach. Also please don’t hesitate to describe your use case and detailed needs in this forum.

  8. Ability to create a Draft version of a custom Digest Template

When using custom digest templates, it is always "live" or in production. Outside of creating a separate digest for testing purposes, you have to get all of your edits in the template before the next time the digest is run.

It would be great if there was a "draft" version of the custom template, so that you could run the test campaign & then approve the draft when ready.

We have to run the test template campaign at least once through Litmus to test that our template and new content display properly for various email applications

  9. Trigger Email Based on Other Criteria

At the moment you can only trigger a Digesto driven email to send at a specified periodic interval. It would be really neat if we could trigger emails to be sent based on other criteria. For example:

    - When a new item is posted to the RSS feed. This way we could offer a new email as posts are put up

    - Based on Marketo Triggers. This way users could receive Digest emails when certain actions are taken elsewhere (form fills, other email is opened, section of Web Site is browsed).

We chose not to allow publishing in real time to avoid having multiple emails going out in a short – and out of control – interval. Ex: if your bloggers where to decide to publish 3 article in one day – it would send out 3 emails in that same day.

As an alternative solution we have developed a function in the scheduler that allows you to check for new content up to 12 times per day – which should be close enough to a real time trigger, but you will control the paste.

To do this, select the Daily schedule and use the “+” button to add more times to your schedule.

Regarding the Marketo triggers, we do agree that it would be nice to have that, but it’s not on our roadmap for now due to the complexity of developing it….but maybe someday.

    Thanks for your feedback

  10. Schedule on last weekday

I know we are able to schedule digests to go on a specific weekday every month (see attached). However is it possible to have a setting to schedule on the last week day of every month, no matter what day it is?

  12. Reorganize list of Digests

Is there a way to re-organize our list of digests?
Ideally we could group them into a handful of collapsible folders.

  13. Predefined number of posts

It would be great to have a feature that would allow a predefined number of posts in newsletter, even if it were older articles. Just in the case that we only have 1 new article for the week, the newsletter won't looks so empty. Thanks!

Feedback received from Lily at Wepay : Twitter share link within each post exceeds the character limit. Can we revise to -> "{Blog.Title}" bit.ly link #payments via @WePay. Also, how do I revise this myself in the future?

Twitter won’t count the url in the limits anymore (this is recent…since 2016 I think). So despite a negative count, the post will go out. I tested it to confirm – see screenshots attached. Although we cannot get a bitly link in Digesto today, I think there is room to improve the user experience. We will consider these improvements in future release.

  15. Ability to create multiple digest templates linked to Marketo tokens

It would be good to be able to create different Digesto stylings for posts linked to different Marketo tokens. This would allow us to create headline news stories rather than just having a list of stories in the same format.

Thanks for your input! We looked into this and I agree it would be a great way to improve design layout. To be able to completely separate styling for headline vs rest of the Digest would require significant changes in the way we currently build our layouts. I will add it to our backlog and will let you know if we’re able to prioritize it anytime soon.

    Thanks!
    David

  16. More CSS control over links auto-generated by Digesto?

Would love to be able to set a custom hexidecimal value for any links in the digest.
Also, how can I remove the auto-created "This post first appeared in..." lines of my digest?

  17. Ability to Test New Posts Only Feature

In this FAQ: http://community.perkuto.com/knowledgebase/articles/322146-step-4-test-and-activate-your-digest it says: "The TEST will grab all posts (as opposed to the scheduled Digest that will only grab newly published content since last run)"

We need another button that allows us to "TEST NEW POSTS ONLY" to ensure that we're only grabbing the new posts since the last test... the way that the scheduler works.

Hi, thanks for your feedback! I can see that ‘testing" for new posts would be very usefull . There is currently a way to build a quality assurance Digest and I think it could help with filling the gap that you described. Here is a new article I’ve just built to explain the concept. Your feedback is welcome! http://community.perkuto.com/knowledgebase/articles/843975-building-a-digesto-quality-assurance-qa-program

  18. Ability to create a digest or automated email of the top 5 newsfeed content

We want to be able to automate the delivery of the top 5 or 10 most popular headlines/stories based on the most clicked headline or story link from our newsfeeds. We want to do something like the 5 or 10 most read stories and send it to a particular segment. Does anyone know how to do this?

This is a complex feature for us to develop, considering that there is no indicator of the popularity of your posts.

Your CMS or RSS toll is likely the best suited solution to achieve this.

For example Drupal and Workpress both offer customization option or plugins to extract most popular feeds.

    Ex:
    https://wordpress.org/plugins/wordpress-popular-posts/

    https://wordpress.org/support/topic/display-most-popular-posts-without-plugin-by-viewed-taxonomy

    https://www.drupal.org/project/mostpopular

Once your most popular feeds are structured in an RSS/Atom feed, Digesto can easily plug into it and distribute to your subscribers.

  19. One click email send

It would be great if there was a one click option to send out emails immediately. Working within the scheduler as a workaround is clunky and you need to go back and reset it afterwards

  20. Ability to apply different style to first/featured post

This one was requested a couple times via support tickets: would like to be able to "feature" the most recent post in the email layout by applying specific style to it. Ex: First post would diplay in 1 column full width image and larger fonts while subsequent posts would be in a 2 columns format.
